Avoiding Double Subjects

A sentence is incorrect if it contains a double subject—a subject with a pronoun right after it. To fix a double subject, delete the pronoun and use the subject only. Or delete the subject and use the pronoun only.

&#10006 The sheep they look identical. (double subject)

&#10004 The sheep look identical.

&#10004 They look identical.

&#10006 Mark he gave a great classroom presentation. (double subject)

&#10004 Mark gave a great classroom presentation.

&#10004 He gave a great classroom presentation.

&#10006 The bank it is closed today. (double subject)

&#10004 The bank is closed today

&#10004 It is closed today.
