Building Words

Many words in English are built from prefixes, roots, and suffixes. If you know the meaning of each part, you can figure out the meaning of the word. You can also go in reverse, building all-new words, whether practical or ridiculous.

Your Turn Study the list of prefixes, suffixes, and roots. Look up any unfamiliar parts in Write for College or online. Then assemble the parts to create new words. Provide a definition of each.
