The Platypus

The Platypus I’ll bet you’ve never heard of a weirder animal than the duckbill platypus. They are kind of a cross between ducks and beaver. In this paper I will be exploring what they look like, what they eat, where they live, and some other interesting information. Platypuses have very weird, duck-like bills. These very sensitive bills help them find food. They also have spurs on their back feet that are about an inch and a half long. Platypuses also have flat beaver-like tails and their feet are webbed. The platypus eats some odd food. They look for insects and other vertebrates. They also eat small fish. The platypus gets its food with its bill. They go to the bottom of a river and blindly find their meals. Platypuses make their dens along rivers. Their dens only fit one or two animals, usually just the baby and the mother. The platypus is one of the only mammals that lay eggs. They’re also one of the only two mammals that are venomous and not warm-blooded. Reading about platypuses has really shown me what interesting creatures these odd-looking mammals truly are!
